Here is a beautiful example of a late Jumeau Bébé c. 1892-1895
We must remember these dolls are no longer being made. In recent years these examples have taken a tumble in pricing. There are several factors that have led to this. There was a time when these dolls commanded upwards of $3500-$4000. However, every day they grow in rarity or loss due to Mother Nature’s wrath, ignorance of heirs, or unfortunate accidents. At Beautiful Bébés we feel these examples deserve respect and valuation based on condition, beauty, and overall presentation.
This beautiful doll is a wonderful example of the workmanship and artistic talent of the Jumeau firm. She was created toward the end of the Golden Age of Dolls in Paris when massive competition was encroaching from Germany and other dollmakers. During this time, the open mouth with teeth was considered a fantastic innovation. She was the darling of the 1890s. Every little girl had to have an example of one of these charming dolls with articulated bodies, including jointed wrists, which were all the better to play with and pretend they were real little girls. 
This darling doll has the large magical blue paperweight eyes generously fringed with a fan of lashes up and down. Her face glows with lovely choices of soft colors expertly applied with deft strokes. Her lovely bisque is framed by a lengthy and generously curled blonde mohair hair wig. She is wearing a sweet ensemble of palest pink and coordinated French bonnet. Her ivory shoes carry the Bee-mark and in excellent condition. Her body has the original finish and bears the blue stamp at the base of her spine indicating that she is a product of JUMEAU. She has the red Jumeau stamp at the base of her head. 
This particular model has composition hands that did not retain all of the paint thus we see the usual flaking on the fingers, and palms of the hand. This is normal and can be restored if desired. We will leave that up to the new owner. Overall, this is a fabulous example of a  Bébé that grows rarer with each passing year. Don’t miss this opportunity to add her to your collection!
