This is a rare doll, and one that we have never encountered before. She was previously owned by a late well-known collector in Italy, whose name will be revealed upon sale. Mademoiselle has a beautiful Barrois shoulder head with deep blue enamel eyes framed by an antique honey blonde wig. Her kid body is firm and in generally good condition. Her arms are unique in that they are leather to the elbow and then the bisque forearms have been inserted. The hands are actually strung from inside the bisque and move independently. Interestingly, they can actually be placed in a way that they clasp together.

She is wearing a lovely enfantine style jumper of crème and brown stripe complete with lamb collar and muff. She has a wonderful additional antique costume shown in the pictures of ivory wool with a cape-collar and lacy dress underneath.

She is in generally excellent condition for her age and we estimate her to be circa 1870, possibly somewhat earlier. Her bisque is free of damage, although she does have the occasional tiny kiln spot which is to be expected of dolls made in this era.

She is certainly an unusual addition and promises to add a wonderful dimension to your antique Fashion Doll Collection.
